Q: I haven't used DePopper for some time and now it is requesting the key code again. Why? Should't DePopper keep the key code forever?
A: Yes, DePopper should keep the key code forever. DePopper was not designed to ask for the key code after some time without use. You own the license, you use DePopper normally whenever you want, even if you want to use it once every five years. This is the idea: pasting the key code only once.
The usual reason for this problem is the existance, in the same computer, of other program installed by you that deletes the Windows registry keys used by DePopper, after some time without use. For example, an incorrectly configured registry maintenance utility.
DePopper key code is stored in Windows Registry (in accordance to
Microsoft guidelines) and should
never be deleted by any program other than its own uninstaller. Important: this problem is
not caused by DePopper and is
not a DePopper bug - if you install a program that can potentially affect other programs, you are responsible for configuring it properly. The registry cleaning utilities inform that they delete
unused registry keys, where "unused" means "not used for some time", usually some weeks. If you do not use DePopper for more than what the registry maintenance utility assumes to be "some time" and you do not inform it that DePopper registry data should not be erased, of course the program will erase DePopper data. DePopper cannot verify what other programs do, this is not its purpose.
Versions 3.00 and newer backup your key code in your hard disk, so they are not vulnerable to other programs erasing its registry configuration data and key code. It's not technically possible to add this protection to older versions.
